Speech Analysis

Do I really sound like that?? Ew... It was so weird watching myself. I had to watch it a couple times to get used to it, but overall, I think I am pleased with my performance considering that I didn't have a lot of time to prepare and rehearse. My goal was to really make my speech conversational. I wanted to get up there and make it seem like I do public speaking everyday–what's the big deal? In fact, before I went up, I said to myself, You know, Beyonce does all the time... If Beyonce can do it, I can do it too!

But anyways, back to the analysis. I definitely think I could have walked around more. The room is kind of awkward, and I didn't want to block the projector, but I thought that Brandon was effective in the way he moved around. I noticed that I kind of started rocking back and fourth, so I would like to have been able to correct that while practicing. Also, my posture could've been better. I guess it got lost in the act of trying to make my speech conversational.

Lastly, I think I struggled a bit with my content. I felt that my thesis statement and conclusion were weak, and I'm still not exactly sure what my common thread was... But like I said, I'm still satisfied with my performance. I don't think I came off as too nervous.
